FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze in a derelict building in Widnes this morning.

The fire broke out in Terrace Road shortly after 3.15am today.

Two fire appliances were used to deal with the fire in the four metre by five metre building.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Ceiling tiles were removed for ventilation and a thermal imaging camera was then used to check the area before the crews left.”
