A 'CRACK house' has been discovered in Widnes.

Police arrested three people on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

The arrests were made on Tuesday, January 20 after officers conducted a search warrant at an address on Smith Road.

The defendants, a 27-year-old man, a 21-year-old woman and a 57-year-old woman, have all been released on bail and are due to report to Cheshire Police custody unit in February.

Following the execution of the warrant it became apparent to officers that the property was being used as crack house.

After making the discovery, officers took the decision to issue an urgent temporary 48-hour closure notice on the address under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

The notice restricts access to the property for a period of 48-hours, and a hearing for a three month closure order at the property is due to take place at Runcorn Magistrates Court today.

Inspector Mike Evans said: "We take drugs crime extremely seriously, and I want to reassure residents that drugs will not tolerated in Widnes.

"We′re here to keep crime down, and I urge any anyone who is concerned about drugs crime in their local community is to contact Cheshire Police on 101."

Residents can also report crime anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
