AN innovative project is making learning about business fun.

The Enterprise Game has been developed to give Halton pupils an insight into the world of work.

Whether you’re running a market stall or a global corporation, the basics of business are the same and have been encapsulated into an engaging challenge.

Leanne Healey, Wade Deacon’s assistant vice principal and leader of computer science, business and careers, said: “The Enterprise Game is a great way to get our youngsters engaged with business ideas and principles in a fun and exciting way.

“Playing the game forces them to think in different ways and starting the game with primary pupils certainly helps them with the transition to secondary school when they will take business studies as part of their core curriculum.”

Halton Council teamed up with Focus Active Learning to launch the board game.

This pioneering educational resource is now being sold to schools across the UK and overseas, generating income for the council.

The game is played by two teams of up to four players who compete to build the most valuable business.

To do this, they must develop a strategy, assess risks, work as a team, make decisions and manage cash flow.

The team with the highest value business at the end of the game wins.

Halton Cllr Eddie Jones, board member for economic development, said: Everyone wins with The Enterprise Game.

“Young people have told us how much they have enjoyed playing the game and how much they have learned about business from the experience.

“Teachers like it because they can adapt it to meet their pupils’ needs.

“The Council, with the help of Focus Active Learning, has a product that we believe has huge appeal in the educational games market.”

The game can be adapted to for all areas of the curriculum.

The Enterprise Game, priced £95, is available online at theenterprisegame.co.uk.
