THE home of a Widnes family caught fire yesterday.

The blaze broke out in a first floor bedroom of a terraced house in Cross Street shortly before 4pm.

The building was cordoned off after a crack developed in the wall of the property.

Firefighters from Widnes and Runcorn tackled the blaze.

A spokesman for Cheshrie Fire and Rescue Service said: “Building control inspectors were requested to attend.

“The electricity supply company was also requested to isolate the power.

“All persons were accounted for.”
