A LOG burning stove caught fire at a Runcorn house in the early hours of this morning.
Smoke was billowing from a first floor bedroom window when firefighters arrived at the blaze in Halton Road at 2.10am.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The fire was caused by a log burning stove and involved a floor joist.
“The crew had to cut away the flooring to extinguish the blaze.”
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus checked the rest of the property.
A large fan was used to clear the smoke.
