BRICKS were thrown at buses and through a numbers of windows in Widnes and Runcorn last night as residents described yobs going 'on the rampage' during 'Mischief Night'.

Outraged residents spoke of their disgust online as Cheshire Police reported teenagers in Runcorn had thrown a brick through the window of a bus.

Fortunately nobody on the bus was injured.

A police helicopter was also used to 'disperse' youths from Upton Rocks Park after complaints from residents.

One Widnes resident, who did not wish to be named after a brick had been thrown through their window, said: "It wasn't kids, these are six foot grown lads going on the rampage.

"There was glass everywhere and the brick came into our house where I thought we were safe and missed my family by inches.

"I'm shocked this is happening in our town and I think we need to stand together and stop this from happening again in 12 months time."

Homeowners living on Foxley Heath in Widnes were also critical more police patrols were not out to tackle the problem after bricks were thrown through a car window last year.

But Cheshire Police has refused to comment.

The number of calls throughout the night have also not been revealed for Widnes and Runcorn but 45 anti-social behaviour calls were made across the area to Cheshire Police between 8 and 11pm which were classed as 'Halloween-related'.

A Foxley Heath resident added: "There were hundreds of youths congregating on the park near our house and the access gates need to be closed during the winter at night.

"It's pitch black so nobody would use it as a footpath."
