POLICE in Widnes are appealing for information after a 14-year-old boy was threatened with a knife before the offender stole his bike. 

The victim was walking through Victoria Park near Birchfield Avenue when a man approached him and asked for directions at about 2pm on Friday.

The offender began to walk away but returned and brandished a knife at the victim, demanding his bike.

The victim handed the bike over and the offender rode off on it.

He has been described as white, aged about 19, between 6′ and 6′2" tall with a stocky build with short brown hair and was wearing a black cap and grey tracksuit with the hood pulled over the cap.

He was clean shaven and had acne on his face.

DC Tina Jackson of Runcorn CID said: "The victim was understandably shocked by his ordeal but fortunately was not injured.

"We take incidents of this nature very seriously are appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened or who may recognise the man from the description to please get in touch."
