BOTH sides of the Weston Point Expressway in Runcorn were been closed as firefighters tackle a HGV blaze.
Crews were called at 4.40pm on Monday to the blaze, on the road leading to Runcorn Bridge at the junction of Rock Savage.
A spokesman said crews are currently working to get the flames under comtrol and have set up a 50 metre cordon around the incident.
He added: "This incident is causing a lot of smoke so if you are in the area please keep your windows and doors shut."
It is thought the closure has caused significant disruption during the hometime rush hour and motorists have been advised to avoid the area if they can.
