HALTON consumers have saved more than £13,000 on their fuel bills through a collective switch.

The biggest saving was £669.72 and the average was £217.

The Switch Together, Save Together scheme is organised by charity, Energy Projects Plus with six Merseyside local authorities.

Halton Council Leader Clr Rob Polhill, said: "It is great that so many people have saved so much money through this scheme.

“It will make their lives easier and a percentage of the money saved will be put back into the local economy."

The scheme invites people to register their interest in the scheme. Then, by using collective buying power, cheaper tariffs are negotiated from energy suppliers.

E.on offered two tariffs exclusive to the collective switch, which were the cheapest on the market for both monthly direct debit and payment on receipt of bill customers.

The offers tariffs were both fixed, protecting customers from any price rises until September 2015.

Energy Projects Plus is currently running a ‘Switch Now’ campaign in partnership with six Merseyside local authorities.

This scheme encourages householders to explore if switching tariffs could save them money now, rather than waiting for the next collective switch. The same level of help and advice is available as during the collective switch to help make switching easier.

Householders can find out more about switching supplier by visiting LCRenergyswitch.co.uk or by calling the local Save Energy Advice Line on 0800 043 0151.
