FREE first aid sessions are being offered to the public at a new pop-up first aid centre in Runcorn Shopping Centre.

St John Ambulance will be offering expert tuition every day during the school half term holidays, from 10am to 4pm.

It’s a chance for shoppers to learn vital skills which could save someone’s life.

Graham Ellis, training and community projects manager for St John Ambulance said: “‘We’re thrilled that the shop has proved so popular with people in Runcorn.

“We’re hoping that by opening for the whole week during half term the young people in the area will grab the opportunity to drop in and learn some first aid skills.

“There’ll be trainers on hand to answer questions and demonstrate some basic first aid techniques that could save a life."

The shop has proved such a success, the charity is now in talks with the shopping centre management to extend their agreement until April.

They have been offered free use of a vacant shop up to Christmas.

Young volunteers who have been trained as peer educators will be passing on their first aid skills to other young people on Tuesday, October 28.

A coffee morning is being held on Thursday, October 30 for anyone interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities with the charity.

As bonfire night approaches, first aiders will be offering advice on treating injuries associated with fireworks, such as burns and scalds.
