A WIDNES man has been taken to hospital with gunshot wounds after a shooting in Ditton.

The 25-year-old man suffered injuries to his abdomen and leg in the disturbance outside a house in St Michael’s View at 9.45pm on Wednesday, October 15.

The man remains in hospital and is in a stable condition. He has undergone surgery to remove a pellet from his body.

Ch Insp Kevin Bennett said: "Detectives are following a number of lines of enquiry to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and to trace the individuals involved.

"This is believed to be an isolated incident at this stage.

"Discharges of firearms are rare in Cheshire and local officers are currently out in the area providing reassurance to the community."

A spokesman for North West Ambulance NHS Trust confirmed that two rapid response vehicles, an ambulance and paramedic arrived at the scene at 21.52.

The male casualty was taken to Aintree University Hospital.
