TRIBUTES have been paid to former Halton Mayor, Clr Frank Fraser who has died following an illness.

Clr Fraser, aged 81, of Kilsby Drive, who represented the Kingsway ward, died on Thursday.

Halton Council leader Clr Rob Polhill said: “Frank spent many years in the printing industry and always had a tale to tell.

“He loved to sing and was a member of the Irish Guards choir. 

“Frank was very much a family man, and our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Irene, their four children and their families.

“He was well respected by all his fellow councillors and will be sadly missed.”

Clr Fraser was Mayor in 2009/10 and raised more than £17,000 for his three chosen charities, Chance to Care, Widnes Fellowship Centre and HCPT - The Pilgrimage Trust.

He joined Halton Council in May, 1997 and served on many committees.

His funeral and requiem mass will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, October 23 at St Bede’s Church, followed by burial at Widnes Cemetery at 1.30pm.

All are welcome.

A reception will be held afterwards at Select Security Stadium.

Flowers are welcome, or donations via the family will be gratefully received. Donations will be shared between Widnes Fellowship Centre and HCPT - The Pilgrimage Trust.
