HUNDREDS of people attended a memorial football match and charity night to support the families of two Runcorn dads who lost their lives.

Lads they grew up with have set up a trust fund for their children.

Father-of-three Peter Robinson, aged 30, of Poplar Close, died following a motorbike crash on the A562 Dan’s Road in Widnes on Tuesday, August 5.

His close friend, Lee Crowe, aged 32, of Downs Road, took his own life two days before Peter’s funeral. He has a seven-year-old daughter Keira.

Peter’s partner Hannah, aged 24, and their three children, William, aged four, and daughters Madison, aged two and nine-month-old Heidi watched the football match at Runcorn Boys Club.

Hannah said: “It was brilliant. The turnout was really good.

“It was lovely to see how many people were there to support the children.”

Hannah and Peter had booked their wedding for 2016.

Hannah said: “He was always smiling and enjoyed life. We don’t stop talking about him. I want his memory to live on.”

Both families were presented with a peace lily and a keepsake framed photograph before kick-off.

A minute’s applause then echoed round the ground.

Spectators said it was a great game resulting in a 1-1 draw between Halton Brook and Grangeway.

Face painting, cakes and fun activities kept children entertained.

One of the organisers, Chris Stringer said: “It was just brilliant the way the community came together.

“The lads all paid to wear special t-shirts we had printed to raise more money.”

John McDonald, Daryl Evans, Mark Hanley and Rachel Blackhouse teamed up with Chris to organise the events.

A charity night and auction was held in the evening at The Red Admiral pub.

Businesses donated lots of prizes. Money is still coming in.

Lee’s uncle Paul Quigley said: “The football match was really well attended.

“It was great to see how much support for Lee and Peter’s families there is locally.

“There was hardly room to move in the evening and everyone had a good time.

“We want to say thank you to everyone for all your support. It is appreciated.”
