Police appeal for witnesses after attempted cash in transit robbery in Widnes
MASKED raiders tried to rob a cash in transit van at Asda in Milton Road, Widnes this morning.
A gang of four or five men attempted to force their way into the driver’s side of a white Loomis security van parked near a cash machine at 7.09am.
After their attempts failed, they fled in car.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “Fortunately, nobody was injured during the incident.”
The getaway car, a dark blue Ford Focus ST, registration number RS59 FLY, was last seen in the area of Tanhouse Lane in Widnes.
Witnesses say the men were wearing balaclavas and dark clothing.
Anyone with information relation to the incident is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 100 of 30/9/14.
