More than 200 people attended Halton’s biggest health engagement day.

The event was held to highlight of the roles, responsibilities and achievements of Halton Clinical Commissioning Group as it completed its first year planning and buying health services for the borough’s 126,000 patients.

Surprise flash mob performances outside Morrisons in Widnes and in Runcorn Shopping Centre publicised Keeping Halton Healthy day last Wednesday.

A choir sang 'Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher' and 'Love Changes Everything'.

Hand massages, music workshops, smoothies and blood pressure checks were available as more than 40 stalls offered health and wellbeing advice at The Foundry.

People heard about the achievements, challenges and annual accounts during the annual meeting, as well as plans for the next two years.

There was an opportunity to ask the governing body questions.

Simon Banks, chief officer of Halton CCG, who led the annual meeting, said: “I am delighted so many of our patients and stakeholders were able to attend.

“The overall response to the day has been extremely positive, and delegates really valued the opportunity to receive health and wellbeing advice, hear updates from us and be able to have a direct conversation with key members of our organisation in one inclusive event.”

A free shuttle bus was provided to take Runcorn residents to the venue.
