HALTON residents are urged to nominate unsung heroes for a top royal honour.
The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service was created in 2002 to celebrate Her Majesty's golden jubilee.
Three Widnes sisters were honoured this year for running a social club for adults with learning disabilities for 23 years.
Grandmothers Trica Hares, June Roberts and Mary Attwood received their award last week from the Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire David Briggs.
Brooks Newmark, minister for civil society said: “Every day fantastic voluntary groups work with their communities to make a difference to people in their area.
“If you know of a voluntary group that has gone above and beyond to help people, I would urge you to nominate them.”
The closing date for nominations is Tuesday, September 30.
