A fun-filled evening is being held to lift the spirits of people living with cancer.

The Burney Breast Unit at St Helens Hospital which treats many Halton patients, is hosting a ‘Laughter cures’ entertainment evening.

It aims to raise awareness of health and wellbeing after diagnosis of breast cancer.

The event is being held from 6pm to 9pm on Friday, October 10 at St Helens Rugby League stadium, Langtree Park.

Leena Chagla, consultant surgeon and lead clinician said: “Our past events have been a tremendous success thanks to the support of our patients and the community.

“This year we hope to do even better by coming together and sharing laughter. We want to promote that there is life after cancer and that life can be fulfilling and empowering.

“Even if you do not believe that ‘laughter cures’ you cannot deny it does no harm and does make you feel better.”

Special guests include former British Army Corporal, Andy Reid, who will talk of his time in Afghanistan and how laughter helped him to make it through some of his toughest times as a soldier.

Comedian Pauline Daniels, who has been treated for cancer, will be on stage.

Experts in laughter therapy and laughter yoga will also be there.

All are welcome.

Tickets priced £15 for adults and £10 for children are available from St Helens and Whiston hospitals.
