A TEENAGE driver has been charged following the death of a baby boy at a Runcorn travellers’ site.

Douglas Doherty, aged 19, of Rilshaw Lane, Winsford, appeared at Halton Magistrates Court in Runcorn yesterday, charged with causing death while driving a vehicle uninsured.

The incident happened at the travellers’ site on Warrington Road on Tuesday.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “At 6.24pm on Tuesday, September 2, police were called to the travellers’ site in Warrington Road, Runcorn, following a report of a collision between a van and a one-year-old boy.

“The boy was taken to Warrington Hospital where he later died.”

Doherty was remanded on bail until September 22.
