A WIDNES martial school is celebrating its 10th birthday.

Matt Fiddes Martial Arts will also be holding an awards ceremony for students on Saturday, September 13 .

Everyone is invited to a family fun day on Sunday, September 14, from 1pm to 4pm, at The Wids Health and Squash at Widnes Rugby Union Club in Heath Road WA8 7NU.

There will be martial arts demonstrations, a barbecue, bouncy castle and ice creams.

The school has grown from strength to strength since Steve James gained a franchise in 2004.

Matt Fiddes, the man behind the chain of martial arts schools said: “I’m am very proud of everything Master Steve James has achieved since setting up our Matt Fiddes Martial Arts franchise in Widnes ten years ago.

“He is one of our leading instructors and franchise owners in the organisation.

“ He is well respected by martial artists around the world.”

Steve spent his childhood training with his father, 8th dan Karate legend Doug James, who was his first instructor and taught him and his brother Michael to be the best that they could.

James n ow has more than 250 students in his schools across Cheshire and Lancashire.
