A CREAMFIELDS fan who died after falling ill at a hotel in Widnes has been named.

James Weston, aged 22, from Leicestershire, died at Whiston Hospital after collapsing at The Travelodge at 5.30am on Sunday, August 24.

It is believed he had been to the Daresbury dance festival the night before.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said:”Cheshire Police was informed by North West Ambulance Service of an incident at the hotel involving a male guest who was experiencing serious medical problems.

“He was taken to Whiston Hospital where his condition deteriorated and, despite the best efforts of medical staff, he sadly died a short time later.”

A post mortem has been carried out but the cause of death was withheld and the results of further toxicology tests are awaited.

The cause of death is currently being treated as unexplained and officers are examining whether it is in any way drug related.

His family has asked for time to grieve.

An investigation is continuing and officers are currently piecing together as much information as possible in a bid to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
