MEDIEVAL re-enactors brought the 14th century back to life inside the ancient grounds of Runcorn's Norton Priory museum.

Through interpretation, demonstration and display, the Cheshire Levy showed visitors how skills and equipment would have been used.

A reverend mother was joined in the undercroft of the 900-year- old monastery ruins by star the greyhound, Adam Povey, an archer and Paul Garden, an apothecary and surgeon.

Susan Brownrigg from Norton Priory said: "They talked to visitors in character."

They will be returning on September 21 and 22, October 4 and 5 and October 26.
