A NEW wedding website has been launched to showcase venues across Halton where couples can get married.

Runcorn Town Hall, modelled on an Italian villa, with a grand staircase adorned with oil paintings by Chevalier Andrea Casali, is attracting brides and grooms from miles around.

Jayne Simon and Alisdair Carr, both aged 30, recently made their vows in the 1856 former mansion .

Jayne, of Bridgewater Avenue, Warrington, said: "It is an absolutely stunning building. It is gorgeous inside as well as outside.

"It is set in its own grounds for pictures and is just beautiful."

The standard of the service and facilities is reflected in the fact that Halton's superintendent registrar, Andrew Lucas, won the award for individual contribution to the registration service in 2013 at the Registration Service Association Awards.

The team was nominated for three accolades.

Halton Clr Stef Nelson, board member for the registration service, said: "Situated in extensive grounds which have recently received a prestigious green flag award, Runcorn Town Hall is the picture perfect location for a wedding."

Around 300 couples get married at approved venues across Halton each year, including Norton Priory Museum and Gardens and Widnes Masonic Hall.
