CHESHIRE police is continuing to investigate the death of a man after he fell ill at a hotel in Widnes over the Bank Holiday weekend.

It is believed the 20-year-old man was at the Creamfields Festival the night before he collapsed.

At 5.23am on Sunday 24 August, Cheshire Police were informed by the North West Ambulance Service of an incident at a hotel on the outskirts of Widnes involving a male guest who was experiencing serious medical problems.

The man was taken to Whiston Hospital where his condition deteriorated and, despite the best efforts of medical staff, he sadly died a short time later.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: "A post mortem examination is due to take place later this week.

"The cause of death is currently being treated as unexplained and officers are examining whether it is in any way drug related.

"An investigation is underway and officers are currently piecing together as much information as possible in a bid to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident."
