SAINTS Peter and Paul Catholic College in Widnes was celebrating results above the national average.

Students Callum Burns and Roisin Fletcher achieved 12 A* grades and 11 A grades between them.

Principal Wendy White said: “I am so proud of all our students. We protect our young people, but they are well aware of the news reports about exam results and changes to the education system, which can put them under enormous pressure to do well.

"The results gained by students such as Callum and Roisin, as well as all our other students show that our young people are resilient, determined, and proud to do their best.

" It is also a credit to the effort that staff have put in to teaching and engaging students in their education.”

Students in 14 subjects improved on last year's results.
