CHRISTINA Boxs has gone through a hair raising experience in memory of her brother.

The 34-year-old, of Blyth Close, Murdishaw, had her head shaved at Terry’s boutique in Runcorn Shopping Centre on Friday and has raised more than £400 for Macmillan Cancer Care.

She knows first hand what kind of difference their nurses can have when her family had little time to prepare themselves for 39-year-old Karl's treatment and death in March last year.

Christina said: "He got rushed into hospital with suspected TB then they found out it was lung cancer.

"When he went into Halton Haven the nurses were brilliant, they supported us 100 per cent."

Karl, from Castlefields, was given months to live but he died six weeks after being diagnosed.

Christina, who has a 12-year-old son, Joshua, added: "I was really close to my brother. We were like twins. He was my role model.

"I'd like to thank everyone who sponsored me.

"My hair was to the middle of my back and really thick.

"It feels weird having such short hair."
