YOUNGSTERS from Widnes Fire Cadets were on hand to give an authentic feel to the launch of a new Disney film.

Reel Cinema, at The Hive, Widnes, was screening the film Planes Fire and Rescue and fire cadets were joined by firefighters who brought along a fire engine for children to see up close on Friday.

The cadets were also there to raise funds for their 2015 trip to Nepal where they will be building a high school in the Nepalese mountains and Operation Florian which helps firefighters save lives abroad through reconditioned fire engines and emergency equipment.

n ARTISTIC youngsters from Runcorn have been helping to spread firefighters' safety message with their own designs.

Runcorn Fire Station's Green Watch received more than 100 entries for a poster design competition to help protect Runcorn's parks against deliberate fires after visiting high schools in the town.

Overall winner was Beth Woods from St Chads High School with 'Don't Watch It Burn' and runner up was Hannah Gannon from The Heath High School with her poster called 'Reduce Arson On Runcorn Hill' .

The winners were presented with their prizes of a bike each, donated by Motorworld Runcorn, at the Station's open day and their posters will feature in the campaign.
