THE driver of a lorry which crashed through barriers on the Weaver Viaduct on the M56 this morning has died.
The lorry collided with the barriers close to the Runcorn junction on the Chester bound side at 10.15am and went through to rest on the embankment below.
One lane has been reopened at the scene and emergency services are working to reopen another lane before the start of the afternoon rush hour.
But police are warning motorists to still expect delays while work is being done to recover the lorry, repair the barriers and clean up fuel spillages.
Police are renewing their appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, and not yet made contact with police, to ring Cheshire Police on the non emergency number 101, quoting incident number 211 of Tuesday, August 12.
