HEAVY rain is set to sweep across Halton.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain in the town from 10am to 8pm.
They say heavy, slow moving and possibly thundery showers are expected for the area and have warned of 20mm to 30mm of rain during the day.
Some spots may be affected by localised flooding with up to 50mm of rain expected.
Meanwhile they are warning that the area could feel the force of tropical storm Bertha which is predicted to hit Europe after travelling across the Atlantic this Sunday.
Forecasters say it is too soon to say whereabouts the storm will hit.
Chief forecaster, Eddy Carroll, said, “There is still considerable uncertainty surrounding this weekend’s weather, with the potential for heavy rainfall and strong coastal winds, along with large waves. However, there is a chance that the system may pass to the south of the country, or spread heavy rain even further north."
