FIREFIGHTERS in Widnes and Runcorn tackled two derelict building fires within four hours of each other yesterday.

The first fire broke out on Hale Bank Road, Widnes at 11.21am and two fire engines from Widnes were called to the blaze in a building measuring 10m by 8m.

Then at 3.30pm a fire engine from Runcorn and one from Widnes were called to Halton Road, Runcorn where there was a rubbish fire in a derelict building.

Both fires are believed to have been started deliberately and anyone with any information on either fire can contact Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111 or call Cheshire Police on 101.
