AN oasis of colour has breathed new life into Runcorn old town.

Community groups, schools and residents have teamed up to create a garden in High Street.

Artists at Hazlehurst Studios led a series of workshops as part of an innovative old town bloom project.

Back in May, volunteers were invited to bring old tin cans, decorate them and plant them up with flowers, herbs and greenery.

The project is aimed at rejuvenating the area to make it look more attractive and bring the community together to share and enjoy public space.

It gave horticultural experts the chance to share their valuable skills of art and flower planting.

The fruits of their labour will be on display at a celebration day on Tuesday, August 5 in the town centre, along with an exhibition of all the extra work at Hazlehurst Studios.

Old town bloom is funded by Runcorn Town Team and supported by Halton Council’s arts development team.
