A FAMILY fun day is being held at The Wellington Pub in Hale Village from 12 noon until 4pm on Sunday, August 3 to raise funds for a litle boy with a life threatening condition.

Stephen Erangey was diagnosed with high risk neuroblastoma, a very rare and aggressive form of cancer before his first birthday.

He is now three-years-old and his family is trying to raise £250,000 to take him to America for specialist treatment.

Hale villager Cerri Gallagher and her family have organised the fun day.

Her daugher, Angela Whiteley, aged 38, and husband, Jonathan, aged 42, have already collected £1,800 for their sponsored walk from Chester to Hale this weekend.

Cerri, aged 61, who lives in the gardeners cottages in the grounds of Hale Hall, said: “Every single penny will go towards Stephen’s appeal. He has had a tumour removed and received chemotherapy and radiotherapy. He is still tube fed.

“There is an 80 per cent chance of him relapsing within two years. They won’t treat him again in the UK so he would have to be taken to America.

“Hale village is very community orientated so I’m sure this event will be well supported on the day.”

Cerri, her husband, Thomas, aged 62, and family run a haulage company, JWT Commercial Limited in Garston, where Stephen lives.

Employees from B&M have already volunteered to have a go on a 200ft bungee jump, the biggest in Europe.

Fairground rides, stalls, a barbecue will be among the many attractions with lots of raffle prizes up for grabs.
