A WIDNES school is celebrating after achieving top marks in an Ofsted inspection.

Lunts Heath Primary School in Farnworth has been hailed outstanding in all four categories, achievement of pupils, quality of teaching, behaviour and safety of pupils and leadership and management.

Lead inspector Jean Tarry said: “The head teacher is the driving force. She ensures a very high standard of education, shows a relentless drive with pupils’ progress and ensures that spiritual, moral, social and cultural aspects of learning permeate through the whole school.

“The leadership of the head teacher is extremely effective as she is constantly driving improvement. She leaves no stone unturned and rightly identifies any dips in progress. The governors are relentless in ensuring that all pupils make as much progress as possible in this very caring and supportive school.

“Progess is rapid and has been sustained over the last three years.

“The quality of teaching is exceptionally high. Pupils’ behaviour is exemplary.”

The 332 pupils take part in many after school clubs.

Head teacher Dee Denton said: “This is fantastic for our school. Ofsted’s verdict reflects the hard work of all our pupils, teachers and staff as well as the support of parents, governors and the local community. I would like to thank them all.

“We expect all our pupils to achieve the very best and will continue to challenge them to do just that.

“We also aim for well-rounded, well-behaved, happy children and are delighted that Ofsted recognised our effort to reach all these goals.”
