A FREE family fun day was held at Halton’s only millennium green in Runcorn.
A team of volunteers have been managing the former football field behind the Norton Arms as a public open space since 2000.
Birds of prey, circus skills, a baking competition, shire horse and zorbs kept children entertained on Saturday.
Volunteer Anne Brennan, who helps run the trust charity, said: “It was great. We had more young volunteers than ever. We hope children will have lots of happy memories of that field so that when they are a bit older they may like to support this project.
“It takes a lot of organising. There are 10 of us in the action group.”
She wishes to thank secretary Pauline Riley for securing grant bids and everyone else who helped to make the event such a success.
