ARMED men brandishing an axe and a knife threatened a Runcorn family in a terrifying burglary.

They entered their home in Folkestone Way, Murdishaw, in the early hours of the morning, and demanded money and jewellery.

The two masked men searched the house and stole money in the raid.

The pair ran off towards Parkgate Way.

DC Richard Kennedy, investigating the offence, said: "This is a very serious incident and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have any information about these offenders.

“Thankfully, nobody was seriously hurt, however children at the address witnessed what happened and were extremely frightened.

“If you know who these people are or have any information that could assist us we would ask that you come forward."

The burglary happened at 12.30pm on Saturday, July 12.

The offenders were wearing dark clothing and balaclavas.
