A WIDNES family were burgled while they were asleep in bed.

Intruders forced the front door of their home in Church Street, West Bank, took keys hanging up in the hall and stole a classic sports motorbike which was parked outside.

Terry Baker, aged 50, his wife, Julie, aged 44, and their 14-year-old son only discovered the break-in when they got up on Friday morning, July 4.

Taxi driver Terry said: “We didn’t hear a thing. We’ve got two dogs and they never stirred.”

Burglars stole his Triumph Datona 955i sports motorbike which was decorated with chequered flags and a distinctive helmet with a union jack motif.

Terry added: “It’s terrible. I’m not bothered about what they took. I’m more concerned about them being in the house. “

Detectives are appealing for information.
