RESIDENTS from three Runcorn estates were treated to a special meal to foster greater community spirit.

The series of big lunches generated food for thought as part of a nationwide party developed by the Eden Project.

Social landlord Riverside organised the events, based on a Wimbledon theme, in Palacefields, Halton Brook and Murdishaw.

Neighbours met up for lunch and cream teas and were invited to chat to each other.

Vanessa Shaw, Riverside’s community engagement officer in Runcorn, said: “It was great to see people coming together to have fun and share ideas about their communities.

“As well as being good fun, events like this help to build new friendships that we can enjoy for the rest of the year.”
