ROADS at various places around junction 11 of the M56 in Runcorn will be closed over the next four months for major highway improvements.

The Highways Agency aims to make roads safer for traffic and improve capacity.

It is part of one of the Government’s pinchpoint schemes to stimulate employment opportunities.

The closures start on Monday, September 1 and will be advertised in advance by signs on site, with the majority being overnight.

The work will include the A56 Chester Road in Daresbury and the A56 roundabout at junction 11 of the M56.

Closures will include the southbound carriageway of the A56 from Red Brow Lane to Windmill Lane and the northbound carriageway from Windmill Lane to Red Brow Lane.

There will be speed restrictions applied on northbound and southbound sections of the A56 Chester Road.

Alternative routes will be provided.
