TRIBUTES have poured in for a devoted dad killed in a collision in Widnes the day after his 33rd birthday.

Friends and family have posted messages for much-loved cyclist Michael Davies who recently moved from Beechwood in Runcorn to Frodsham with his wife, Vicki and their one-year-old daughter, Lottie.

His friends knew him as ‘Pickle’ and said he always had a ‘massive smile’, describing him as ‘a truly amazing guy’ and ‘a legend’.

Flowers, messages and cards now mark the spot in Birchfield Road where the former Helsby High School pupil died whilst riding his bike.

He was fatally injured in a collision involving a Ford Mondeo and a van at 4.12pm on Thursday, June 12.

A stranger who sat with him in his final moments left a message saying: ‘Sorry we could not do more for you. We held your hand until you sadly past away. RIP young man.’

Another tribute read: ‘Pickle, you are going to be missed mate. You truly are one in a million love Dave’.

Owen, Katie, Olivia and Ted said: ‘What a guy, a true legend. Will miss your friendship every single day’ .

Chris Myatt posted: ‘Such an incredibly pleasant lad. Always smiling, infectious friendly character, adored by family, friends & anyone who had the pleasure of his company.’

Danni Hignett added: ‘ur beautiful girl was baptised at the same time as my son. My thoughts and prayers go to your wife, daughter, family and friends.’

Schoolfriend Becky Maxwell posted: ‘I remember the first day of high school when I first met you Pickle. You had a massive smile on your face that day and every single day. Such a wonderful happy person. Thinking of your family at this devastating time.’

Kath Harkness added: ‘A devoted dad and husband, taken from his friends & family far too young.’

Mark Wood said: ‘This guy was one in a million and I will never forget you buddy. Rest in peace mike I’m proud to have known you and called you a friend.’

Gemma Brown added: ‘They broke the mold when they made you. Still can’t believe it. We will all be there for Vicki and Lottie. Love you hun.’

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “Enquiries are ongoing and police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.”
