THE Vikings have recorded their biggest and most successful day of trading after Challenge Cup fever hit Widnes.

Thousands of fans queued up outside the Vikings superstore at Tesco Extra, some as early as 4am, on Saturday, June 14.

The demand for tickets for the fixture at Leigh Sports Village on Sunday, August 10, has been unprecedented.

Brian O'Connor, director of marketing at Widnes Vikings, said: "The store has recorded its busiest and most successful ever day of trading.”

He paid tribute to Vikings supporters for their co-operation and backing as Widnes looks to book its place in the final for the first time since 1993.

He added: "The Vikings would like to thank all of the customers that have passed through the Vikings Superstore and called on the ticket hotline for their patience and also for their enthusiasm while queuing for their tickets.

β€œAt times the atmosphere was electric. Thanks for your continued support.

"The Vikings would also like to thank the Vikings superstore staff as they ensured that every customer left with a ticket."
