DETECTIVES are appealing for information after a man was attacked and robbed by a gang in broad daylight in Runcorn.

He was walking along Lapwing Grove in Palacefields when he was grabbed from behind by an offender.

Two more men emerged from nearby bushes. One searched his pockets stealing money, cigarettes and a phone card whilst an accomplice assaulted the victim, kicking him in the legs and back.

The victim suffered minor injuries.

DC Tina Jackson from Runcorn CID said: “Fortunately the victim only suffered slight injuries as a result of this incident and we continue to make enquiries to trace the offenders responsible.


“We are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time who may have witnessed the incident or who saw anyone acting suspiciously to please come forward.”

The incident happened at 12.30pm on Tuesday, June 10.

One of the offenders is described as 5ft 6ins tall, of hefty build and wearing a dark tracksuit. He had a scarf covering his face.

Another offender was wearing black Reebok Classics.

Police believe this was an unprovoked attack.

Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who might have witnessed the attack.
