RAIN failed to dampen spirits at Hale Carnival on Saturday as crowds watched rose queen Mia Saxon-Magennis ride through the village in a horse drawn carriage.
The Manchester Regiment, The Royal British Legion, Liverpool PALS, 208 Field Hospital and Entente Cordiale Battlefield Tours commemorated the centenary of the Great War.
North West Casual Classic cars raised £371 for the Mark Gorry Foundation, a Widnes charity supporting testicular cancer.
Carnival chairman Cerri Gallagher said: “The military involvement was fantastic. The showground seemed quite busy.
“We had some new stalls. Children enjoyed making bird boxes.
“Hale village carnival helps keep community spirit alive.”
Volunteers are desperately needed to run next year’s carnival. Anyone interested can call Cerri Gallagher on 0151 425 5518.
