CURLING, a sport which sees players slide curling stones across the ice towards circular targets, is coming to Halton.
Teams from businesses at The Hive leisure park were invited to have a go at Silver Blades ice rink.
Coach Hugh Meikle taught them the basic rules and then split them into teams to compete against each other.
Ben Brown, Silver Blades marketing co-ordinator said: “It was good fun. Some seemed to catch on very quickly. It’s all about balance and knowing how the ice works.”
Staff from the ice rink, Frankie and Benny’s, Brewers Fayre, Premier Inn and Nandos enjoyed trying out their new skills.
A curling club from Deeside will run sessions every Friday from 10am to 12 noon. All the equipment will be provided.
Anyone interested can call the ice rink to book.
It is hoped that an evening club will eventually be set up in Widnes.
