Widnes woman dies after being assaulted - man in custody
A 42-YEAR-OLD woman has died after being assaulted at her home in Widnes.
Cheshire Police have confirmed they were called to a terraced house in Mersey Road, West Bank at 7.26am this morning.
The woman was taken to Whiston Hospital suffering from serious injuries but died a short time later. Her family have been informed.
A Home Office pathologist is to carry out a post mortem examination later today.
A 38-year-old man known to the victim has been arrested and remanded in custody.
Police are still at the scene.
