A RUNCORN woman was punched in the face when she refused to give money to a stranger at the door.

The 35-year old victim was left with a slight injury to her face.

The incident happened at a house in Handforth Lane in Halton Lodge between 11.50am and 12 noon yesterday, Thursday, June 5, when a man knocked at her door demanding money.

He fled after the attack.

PC Jason Hough from Runcorn Neighbourhood Policing Unit said: "Fortunately the victim was not seriously injured as a result of the incident but she was left shaken by her ordeal.

"We are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed anything suspicious to come forward."

The offender is described as white, between 30 and 40 years old and about 5ft 6ins tall.

He had a thin build and untidy dark brown hair which was greying at the sides. He was wearing blue denim jeans and a blue tracksuit top.
