A SERVICE of commemoration is being held to mark the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings at 10.45am on Friday, June 6 in Victoria Park, Widnes.
Normandy veteran Ron Ball will lay a wreath as church leaders, dignitaries and veterans remember the fallen.
The service will be led by Rev Janice Collier, the area dean of Widnes.
Sandra Kerr from Co-operative Funeralcare in Widnes, who organised the service, said: “Our service of commemoration will enable people to remember the servicemen and women who took part in the landings 70 years ago and we hope it will provide some comfort to their families and the veterans.”
