FIREFIGHTERS are tackling a big blaze at a Widnes nightclub.
Eight appliances are currently battling the fire above Selfies, formerly BBs, in Eleanor Street.
The fire broke out just off Victoria Road shortly after 10.30am.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The area has been cordoned off and the nearby premises have been evacuated. There are currently eight appliances at the scene battling the fire.
“People are advised to keep clear of the incident while it is ongoing.”
Fire engines from Widnes, Runcorn, Birchwood and Warrington, plus a hydralic platform from Chester are at the scene.
Residents are being asked to keep their windows and doors closed as once firefighting operations continue there is expected to be a lot of smoke in the vicinity.
