A DREAM is coming true for a Runcorn hairdressing student who starred in a reality TV show.

Mum-of-two Katie Crompton, aged 31, who reached the final of the BBC Three competition, Hair, is opening her own salon, Cherry Bomb.

She has teamed up with fellow Riverside College student Annemarie Heckingbottom, aged 31, from Beechwood to set up the one stop hair and beauty shop in Frodsham.

It opens on Saturday, May 31, with a family event from 12 noon to 3pm and demonstrations and consultations from 6pm to 9pm.

Katie, from Halton Village, said: “We want to create a salon that is friendly and approachable so everyone feels welcome. We envisage a salon where people can get all their treatments done under one roof, a one stop shop.”

Both girls, who are childhood friends, have hair and beauty qualifications and will be taking an active role at the salon.

Katie, who has two daughters, Daisy, aged four, and Poppy, aged two, has a fashion degree and used to design sportswear for Reebok.

Mum-of-two Annemarie, whose sons are aged six and one, worked in South Africa before meeting up with Katie at college.

Annemarie said: “If anyone is thinking of returning to college to get a qualification they have always wanted they should just do it.

“The course has meant we could create and take opportunities to build a career.

“Riverside have been really supportive with us both having children, the timetables are manageable and have enabled us to juggle family time with studies."
