PATIENTS are being asked for their views about two new urgent care centres set to open in Runcorn and Widnes in the autumn.

NHS Halton Clinical Commissioning Group and Halton Council are inviting residents to take part in a survey.

Dr Cliff Richards, a Brookvale GP and chairman of Halton CCG, said: “This survey is really important. It is our way of gaining an understanding into how local people access health services.

“The views and opinions of local people will be used to directly influence how the urgent care centres are developed.

“Our vision to involve everyone to improve health and wellbeing in Halton is as true now as it was when we developed it, which is why this survey is so important.”

NHS professionals and healthcare practitioners are currently working together to finalise exactly what additional facilities will be offered to residents through the urgent care centres.

X-ray and ultrasound, which is a painless test that uses sound waves to create pictures of organs and structures within the body, are two of the services which are being proposed.

Doctors believe the urgent care centres will enable patients to get the right diagnosis and treatment on their doorstep avoiding the need to travel to hospital.

The centres are due to open at Halton Hospital in Runcorn and Widnes Walk In Centre in Caldwell Road.
