DETECTIVES have issued this CCTV photograph of a motorcyclist believed to have been involved in a robbery at a Widnes jewellers.

Two men armed with a sledgehammer attempted to raid Neil and Barker jewellers at Green Oaks shopping centre in Widnes at around 3.30pm on Thursday, May 8.

One man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident, but police want to speak to this man who is believed to have been at the scene.

He made off on the motorcycle and was subsequently believed to have been sighted in the Fairfield Road, Chapel Road and Arley Woods areas of Widnes.

Officers want to speak to anyone who may recognise either the motorcycle or the man riding it.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident 492 of May 8 2014. Alternatively, information can be given anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
