PUPILS at Ditton Primary School welcomed a new arrival in their classroom.
Ivor Goodsite came to talk to them about dangers on a building site.
The school in Liverpool Road, Widnes, is situated beside the new £2.7 million Halton Council sports pavilion which is being built by construction firm Globe on the site of the former Widnes Recreation Club.
The single storey development will include outdoor football and rugby pitches, a floodlit multi-use games area and cricket pitch plus 10 changing rooms, six officials’ changing rooms, a community room and kitchen.
Builders Globe have invited children to create safety posters which will be judged by head teacher Andrew Buckley.
The winning designs will be erected on the perimeter fencing.
Pupils will be invited for regular, supervised visits to see the pavilion take shape.
